The Farr Family have been farming in Hertfordshire, Newnham for four generations. As machinery has improved and grown in size, the farm has gone from 32 (60 yrs ago) full time workers to only 4. All of our farming is completed in-house by our highly skilled farm team. We use the most up to date modern machinery to ensure accurate and timely applications of seed and sprays helping to reduce our growing costs and maximise our outputs.
On the farm we grow a range of crops including wheat for both milling and livestock uses, malting and feed barley, oil seed rape, sugar beet and depending on the year we also grow peas.
To protect and enhance the environment and wildlife our fields are surrounded with 3 and 6 meter grass and wildflower margins as a part of the government stewardship schemes.
We are accredited under the Assured Scheme for Combinable Crops (ACCS) – otherwise known as Red Tractor. This entails a stringent audit each year in which Health and Safety, hygiene and quality are all assessed.
Where opportunities arise we help and support other landowners with their farming operations and would be available to discuss any local contract work.
